Welcome to Karjaan lukio!
Karjaan lukio is a Finnish-speaking upper secondary school (high school) in Raasepori (Raseborg in Swedish) with about 110 students aged between 16-19. The studies usually take three years, after which our graduates are eligible for higher education, such as university. We frequently cooperate with other regional upper secondary schools and Raasepori Conservatory, Raasepori Dance Institute, and Karjaa Secondary School, with which we share our school premise. We also have international projects as well as local projects, for example in entrepreneurship.
The number of students is relatively small, allowing the staff to assist and counsel the students according to their individual needs. Studies at Karjaan lukio are divided into obligatory, advanced, and applied study units. A school year consists of five periods. Students must sign up for study units worth at least eight credits (8 ECTS) during each period. The subjects at our school include natural sciences, humanities (history, psychology, philosophy, etc.), languages, religion or ethics, visual arts, music, and physical education. The languages include English, Swedish, German, French, and Spanish.
Our students are members of the student council, which organizes different activities and works to enhance the students’ well-being. Members of the council board also attend teachers’ meetings. In addition, volunteer tutor students offer guidance to first-year students.
